We ship your device to our third-party repair partner, who performs the board-level work in their clean, dedicated microsoldering facility. Lake Forest Computer handles intake, logistics, insurance and communication end to end — you deal with us, not them. Current lead time is 4–6 weeks door to door. All parcels ship USPS with signature required.

Bench times are the recovery work itself once the device reaches the depot. Door-to-door, including shipping both ways, is 4–6 weeks.

- Insurance is available and quoted at intake based on the declared value you request — tell us what the device is worth to you and we will price it before anything ships.
- Unsuccessful jobs: no repair fee in most cases — you pay return shipping only.
- Devices previously worked on by another shop carry a $60 bench fee if unsuccessful.

What these faults actually are
What we recover, and what you get back
For live or partially-live devices, recovery output is a full iTunes or Smart Switch backup, or targeted extraction of photos, video, contacts and messages — whichever fits your situation. For boards too damaged to power on, recovery escalates to a CPU swap: the storage and identity chips move to a healthy donor board so the data can be read off, and the original device does not come back working.
When a lockscreen or pin code is in the way
If the device is locked and you don't have the passcode, we quote a separate pin or lockscreen bypass service based on your model and the type of code — 4-digit, 6-digit, or alphanumeric. This path can take anywhere from 2 to 12-plus weeks depending on the device, and isn't offered on every model.

How depot repair works
You contact us and describe the fault. We confirm the price from the table above, take payment for shipping, and send you the details to get the device to the depot. Our repair partner diagnoses it, performs the board-level work, and tests it. It ships back to you USPS with signature required. Door to door, budget 4–6 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
My phone won't turn on at all — is recovery still possible?
Usually, yes. Most no-power devices are recoverable with standard board repair or data recovery techniques; a board that's snapped or severely water-damaged escalates to a CPU swap, which recovers the data but not a working phone.
What format do I get my data back in?
A full backup (iTunes or Smart Switch) where the device supports it, or extracted files — photos and video as-is, contacts and texts as a spreadsheet, notes to PDF where the OS supports it.
What if the recovery is unsuccessful?
No fee in most cases, return shipping only. A $60 bench fee applies to devices already opened by another shop.
Do you need my passcode?
Not for a live device you can unlock yourself before shipping. If you don't know the passcode, ask about the pin/lockscreen bypass service instead.
